Canada – 1st Quarter 2015
Previous years plug-in vehicle volumes and market shares 2014 increased steadily until September, then declined abruptly. Q1 in 2015 started promising, but then again continued in previous downwards-sloping trend. Tesla Model S continues the lead with around 100’s sold vehicles each month Q1 2015. Following the Model S we find Leaf and Volt having an interesting sales combat where the winner was Volt with 177 units.
PEV share of total market volume peaked in September 2014, with 0,36 % from 616 sales. The year finished at 5009 units, which was a 65 % increase over the 3041 units of 2013. Comparing Q1 of 2015 to Q1 2014, Tesla made increasing sales, however, the sales increase was only 2 %.
EVs rising share
The trend from 2014 continues, the ratio of EVs to PHEVs changes in favor of EVs, which now possess 65 % share in Q1 2015, compared to 58% of PEV sales in 2014. To keep in mind is that the ever so popular Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is not on sale in Canada.
