Germany – 1st Quarter 2015
A steady, healthy growth trend can be seen in Germany. Still, being not too strong in sales share, reaching a share of 0,5 % PEVs in Q1 2015, with totally 4443 units sold. This compared to 2326 units sold in Q1 2014 – 181 % increase. Incentives introduced in 2014 (see article Germany – December 2014 & Full Year) continue to increase sales in Germany. However, new model introduction, thus more choices, boosts PEV sales further. Numerous cities in Germany are continuing an adoption of Car Sharing, where a free-floating system is present – increasingly, these cars do also have PEV technology.
PHEV Growth
Introducing the Golf GTE clearly boosts sales in PHEVs, however, the Outlander that was introduced in 2014 grows rapidly in sales. Audi A3 e-Tron makes a kind of nice introduction to the market as well. However, the top 10 sold cars are still clearly dominated by pure EVs, with the i3 as market leader. Interestingly, the BMW i8 is having a strong home market, whereas the Porsche Panamera PHEV and Cayenne PHEV does not reach such numbers.
